How it Works
WinterCrest is a fast-absorbing topical balm handcrafted from a recipe rooted in natural healing traditions. It's used by marathon runners for pre-race warm-up, by active adults for post-activity recovery, and by thousands of people who simply want to move through their day with more comfort.
A Warm-Up in a Jar.
A Cool-Down in a Jar.
WinterCrest is a topical balm that absorbs quickly into the skin, producing a gentle warming sensation. People who use it tell us it helps their muscles and joints feel looser, warmer, and more comfortable — both before and after physical activity.
The recipe was originally created by Rev. Judi Sorensen, drawing on natural healing traditions. Her family continues to handcraft each batch with the same care and intention today. Every jar and stick is made in small batches — never mass-produced.
Since 2006, WinterCrest has built a loyal following at events like the St. George Marathon, the Huntsman World Senior Games, and the Tucson Marathon. It's distributed by the St. George Running Center in Southern Utah.
Before & After Activity
Before your run, hike, or workout: Apply WinterCrest to your major muscle groups and joints 10–15 minutes before activity. It absorbs quickly and produces a warming sensation that users describe as helping them feel loose and ready to move. Think of it as your warm-up in a jar — it doesn't replace your stretching routine, but it complements it.
After your workout or event: Massage WinterCrest into tired, sore areas after activity. Focus on the muscles that did the most work. Users consistently tell us it helps them feel more comfortable and recover with greater ease — so the day after a hard effort doesn't have to sideline you.
Marathon runners and athletes have told us that using WinterCrest before and after their event helped them feel more prepared and recover faster. Several have said it's become a non-negotiable part of their race-day routine.
Every Day Comfort
You don't have to be an athlete or marathon runner to benefit from WinterCrest. About half of our customers use it as part of their daily routine — for morning stiffness, achy joints, sore hands, tight shoulders, or the general discomfort that comes with staying active at any age.
Apply it to hands, knees, shoulders, elbows, lower back, or wherever you feel stiffness or tension. Massage it in and give it a few minutes to absorb. Many of our long-time customers tell us it's the first thing they reach for each morning and the last thing they apply at night.
"I use WinterCrest every morning on my knees and hands before I start my day. The stiffness eases up and I can get moving faster. At 72, that makes a real difference."
— Margaret R., Huntsman World Senior Games participant
How to Use WinterCrest
Apply a small amount to the area where you want support — muscles, joints, or anywhere you feel tension or stiffness.
Massage it in until fully absorbed. WinterCrest is designed to sink in quickly without leaving a greasy residue.
Feel the warmth. You'll notice a gentle warming sensation as the balm goes to work. This is normal and is what our users describe as the "WinterCrest feeling."
Reapply as desired. There's no set limit. Many people apply before and after activity, and some use it multiple times throughout the day for ongoing comfort.
For best results: Apply 10–15 minutes before activity to give it time to absorb fully. After activity, apply as soon as possible while muscles are still warm.

Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly does WinterCrest absorb?
Most people find it absorbs within a few minutes. It's designed to sink in quickly without leaving a greasy or sticky residue.
How often can I apply it?
As often as you like. Many of our customers apply it 2–3 times per day — once in the morning, once before activity, and once after. Some use it more frequently during high-activity periods or events.
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
WinterCrest is made from natural ingredients and most people tolerate it well. If you have sensitive skin or known allergies, we recommend testing a small area first. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
What's the warming sensation I feel?
That gentle warmth is a normal part of how WinterCrest works. It's what our customers describe as the "WinterCrest feeling" — it's the balm absorbing and doing what it's designed to do. The sensation typically lasts 30–60 minutes.
Can I use it before AND after a workout?
Absolutely. Many runners and athletes apply it before activity as a warm-up support, and again after activity for recovery. This is actually how we recommend using it for best results.
How long does a jar last?
It depends on how often you use it and how much you apply. A 2 oz jar typically lasts most people 4–8 weeks with daily use. The 8 oz jar is our best value for daily users and lasts significantly longer.
What's the difference between the jar and the sports stick?
Same recipe, different format. The jar is best for home use — you scoop out what you need and massage it in. The sports stick is a twist-up, mess-free applicator designed for on-the-go use: at race expos, in your gym bag, or in your purse. Many customers have both.
Is WinterCrest a medicine or drug?
WinterCrest is a topical balm made from natural ingredients. It is not a drug and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. If you have a medical condition, consult your healthcare provider.
